The popcorn tuck stitch I developed for this design waffles back and forth to create a subtle herringbone effect.

Wear this classic cardigan cropped with a little ease, like a Chanel jacket, or wear it a little snugger and longer if you like. Either way, prepare to get lots of compliments!

Construction: Popcorn Waffles Cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. The yoke and body are worked flat and the sleeves are worked in the round. The raglan shaping is perfectly integrated with the stitch pattern, which combines a type of tuck stitch with small cables. All in all, a very pleasant and engaging project, with timeless results.

Pattern sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10).
Sweater measurements: 32.5 (36, 39, 42.5) (46, 49, 52.5) (56, 59, 62.5)" butoned, at chest level. 0-6" ease recommended.
Charcoal sweawter shown in size 4, worn with 6.5" ease on a 36" dress form.

Yarn: Sunday Knits Heaven (sport weight), 215 m per 50 g skein; or any Sunday Knits 3 ply (light sport weight) yarn including Nirvana (merino cashmere), Eden (merino), Brigadoon (merino tweed) or Angelic (merino angora), 225 m per 50 g skein: 6 (7, 7, 8) (8, 9, 10) (11, 11, 12) skeins.

Substitute any light worsted weight yarn that works nicely to gauge: 1240 (1400, 1530, 1690) (1820, 1990, 2160) (2330, 2460, 2640) yards.

Gauge: 24 sts and 42 rows = 4" in pattern stitch using size 4 needles.

Needles & Notions: Size 4 US (3.5 mm) needles for pattern stitch and size 3 US (3.25 mm) for ribbing: use straight or circular needles for yoke and body, and double-pointed or circular needles for sleeves; cable needle, tapestry needle, stitch markers.
Note that a smaller needle may be needed if using Sunday Knits Heaven cashmere yarn, which is a little bit plumper than our sport-weight woolen yarn.
